• Lewis Hamilton takes F1 win In Melbourne

    17 March 2008
Lewis Hamilton has taken first place in the first Formula 1 race in Melbourne Australia with a stunning performance, with new rules in place which means the drivers now have to "Drive" the cars themselves rather than rely on cutting edge technology to help he was one of only seven cars to cross the finish line.
With all the new rules in place this season Formula 1 will prove to be a great spectacle for the millions of fans around the world, it didn't take long for the changes to take effect with Massa flying off in the very first corner, fortunately though he was able to make it back to the pits for a new nose and resumed the race.

The fist lap would also prove disappointing for Vettel, Button, Fisichella & Davidson who all ended the race before the first lap was over resulting in the fist showing of the safety car this season.
Ferrari driver and reigning world champion Raikkonen started at the back of the field in 16th place due to a disastourous qualifying session but was soon up to 8th place thanks to other events on the track.

David Coulthard was in 9th place with Alonso hot on his heels in 10th, both chasing the leader Lewis Hamilton who would consistently be the fastest man on the race track pulling away from BMW's Kubica.

After what turned out to be a very entertaining race it would be Lewis Hamilton who took the chequered flag with Heidfeld, 5.478 seconds behind in second place for BMW & Rosberg, 8.136 seconds behind Lewis Hamilton taking 3rd place for the Williams team.

Both Ferrari drivers failed to finish the race but with the disqualification of Rubens Barrichello, Kimi Raikkonen was promoted to a points winning position.

This season looks to be one of the most exciting yet and I for one cant wait for the next race in Malaysia next week.
